The Gibden Scholars Summer Music Camp is an immersive experience designed for music students to develop their skills and passion for music. Participants arrive at the camp, where a full schedule of music-making activities await. The program includes daily rehearsals, performances, and masterclasses, mixed with a dosage of activities, games and travels to nearby towns giving time to contemplate on the lessons taught.
The highlight of the camp is the Grand Finale Concert, where students will showcase their hard work and dedication in a prestigious venue. Leading up to this concert, participants will engage in intensive rehearsals and chamber music performances, allowing them to refine their craft and gain valuable performance experience.
Following the Grand Finale, students will have the opportunity to either depart for home or, transfer to a local accommodation for an overnight experience before returning to their respective home destinations.
The average day begins with aural exercises and warm ups, setting proper atmosphere and preparing the participants for the day ahead. This is followed by a diverse palette of programmes, with rehearsals in the orchestral setting focused on collaboration at the macro level and sessions of chamber rehearsals tutoring collaboration between a smaller ensemble. These lessons are broken up by the occasional game, activity or sightseeing of the surrounding English landscape, giving the participants time to breathe and relax between the possibly intimidating rehearsals. Concerts by the panel usually conclude the day, allowing participants a source of inspiration and an objective of musicianship to yield from the camp.
This experience promises to be a memorable and transformative journey for all attendees, filled with music, learning, and community.
