Born in Seremban, Goh Wen Chih commenced cello lessons with Jonathan Oh at the tender age of six. By the age of sixteen, he had successfully obtained the LTCL Performance Diploma from Trinity College London.

Throughout his illustrious career, Wen Chih has garnered numerous accolades and awards at both local and international competitions.

Notably, he secured the Silver Medal in both the Junior Strings and Chamber Music Categories at the International Youth Music Festival. Additionally, he was the recipient of the Youth Category First Prize at the Euroasia Youth Music Competition 2013. In 2016, Wen Chih was honoured as the Patron’s Prize winner at the Cello Fan Festival held in Callian, France. During the festival, he engaged in several concerts and received instruction from esteemed cellists Florent and Frederic Audibert, Paul-Antoine Rocca Serra, and Xavier Chatillon.

In 2014, Wen Chih made history as the sole Malaysian cellist selected to participate in the ChildAid Asia Concert held in Suntory Hall, Tokyo. That same year, he also achieved second prize in the Strings Category at the Euroasia Young Soloist Competition 2014, served as a finalist for the Asia Music Competition, and was crowned the Young Artist Cello Solo Category First Prize winner at the Malaysian Youth Music Festival. Notably, in 2011, Wen Chih made his inaugural international debut at the International Youth Music Festival in Changsha, China. 

Wen Chih is also a founding member of Arioso Sinfonia, a renowned ensemble that has achieved significant success, notably securing second place at the prestigious Princess Galvani Vadhana International Ensemble Competition (PGVIEC) in 2014. In 2013, Wen Chih’s talent was recognised with a seat in the esteemed Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. He further solidified his international stage presence in 2018 when he joined the Asian Youth Orchestra, where he was appointed principal cellist and embarked on a tour around Asia. Since then, he has performed at various international venues, including Singapore, Japan, Thailand, Italy, China, the Philippines, and Taiwan.

During the pandemic period, Wen Chih continued to showcase his musical prowess by performing in several concerts with The National Symphony Orchestra (NSO), including the “Concert Lambang Sari,” and two virtual concerts with Child Aid Asia Japan and Indonesia.

Driven by an insatiable passion for music and performance, his dream is to bring music to every corner of the world, fostering a sense of unity and harmony through his playing.

Currently, Wen Chih is one of the youngest full-time members of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra.
