Memories I have of Euroasia during my internship…

My name is Yong Yue Yi and I’m currently in the third year of my undergraduate studies in Music Performance at Sunway University. I knew I wanted a major-related internship, but more than anything else like having my internship in music academies, I wanted to gain insight into how music events are organised behind the scenes. As a result, I ran into contact with Euroasia. Euroasia stood out to me as an opportunity where I could gain knowledge, contribute, and keep associated with what I’m passionate about.

My internship thus set off an expectation for hands-on experience of events, maintaining academic learning with practical use within the industry. I decided to intern with Euroasia because I believe it to be more than just an arts organisation; it’s a platform where professionalism, enthusiasm, and education can always come together. Large-scale event production requires thorough preparation and coordination, which drew my curiosity even more. I also wanted to be a part of a team that acknowledges the influence these experiences have on young musicians.

I’ve learnt something new every day all over my three months of internship, which may not sound like much, nevertheless I’ve also had the chance to travel, get to know with new people, and obtain new skills. I’ve had to go through every step of the event procedure, and I’ve really discovered how much work goes into every detail from planning to concluding on the day of the event. I’ve seized the chance to further develop my organisational, problem-solving, imaginative and interpersonal skills in this brief period of time.

Working with the team was one of the most favourable memories during my internship. My colleagues were very accommodating, friendly, and ready to provide guidance from my very first day. Even though they all had their own projects and due dates, yet they always found time to respond to my questions and provide opinions and involve me during brainstorming sessions. Even just observing how they handle challenges, communicating with educators and music academies, and ensuring that every step, from participant registration to event logistics, was meticulously handled taught me a lot.

Although I’m having my internship there, but I never felt like “I’m just an intern.” I was always encouraged by my colleagues to take ownership of my tasks and to ask questions when I was unsure, which really helped me a lot in my confidence and to learn from my mistakes. The level of trust and support had made a big difference to me, it allowed me to grow through hands-on experience. I was also given space to learn from my mistakes, but also to celebrate small tiny successes. I really felt proud to be contributing whenever something I suggested worked out, or when my choices made a positive impact. That sense of purpose and belonging had given me a lot during my internship.

I developed a thorough understanding of what it takes to organise and run musical events during my time at Euroasia, not only from a logistical perspective but also in terms of professionalism and consideration for the individuals involved. I improved my proficiency when dealing with data, which was crucial in scheduling registration details. More significantly, I discovered how crucial it is to be trustworthy and meticulous. I became more precise and cautious in my tasks as the smallest errors could affect participants’ experience. Personally, the experience enabled me to become more adaptive and patient under pressure, particularly when sudden issues happened.

Other than that, I improved my time management skills, maintain calmness in intense situations, and improved my ability to communicate appropriately. I also learnt about the importance of trust and cooperation from being a part of an accommodating and supportive team environment; there was a strong sense of unity as everyone was working towards the same purpose. My work ethic has been shaped by this guidance, and I am confident that I can apply it to any future career.

I gained a lot of insight during my internship at Euroasia, not only about behind-the-scenes operations and event logistics, but also about getting to know new people and creating strong connections. I’m very pleased that I decided to work as an intern at Euroasia. Despite my expectations, it was a fantastic experience.

Above all, I would want to sincerely thanks the team of Euroasia for their kindness, compassion, patience, and tremendous support. I feel appreciated and welcomed by their hospitality and guidance throughout my internship. This internship has been an incredible moment in my career that I will always remember with gratitude and joy.
